Embedding RealMedia Files
When you're ready, move your RAM file and Web page to your Web server. To keep your .rpm file with your Web page, just transfer the .rpm file and the Web page to the same directory on your Web server.
Now, to embed the video file into your Web page, the <embed> tag is used, but in order to reach Internet Explorer on Windows users, include the <object> tag as well.
You are welcome to copy and paste the following code and make use of it. Be sure to change "video-filename.rpm" to your video file name. Experiment with the parameters to suit your preference. Settings: True = yes and False = no.
<OBJECT ID=RVOCX CLASSID="clsid:CFCDAA03-8BE4-11cf-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=250>
<PARAM NAME="SRC" VALUE="video-filename.rpm">
<PARAM NAME="CONTROLS" VALUE="ImageWindow">
<PARAM NAME="CONSOLE" VALUE="one">
<PARAM NAME="AUTOSTART" VALUE="true">
<EMBED SRC="video-filename.rpm" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=250 NOJAVA=true
AUTOSTART=true CONTROLS=ImageWindow CONSOLE=one>
(Note: HTML elements are case-insensitive.)
<EMBED> Tag Parameters
src - This is the URL to the source file (locates the.rpm file).
controls=ImageWindow - This displays the playback window (only). If you do not set any other controls to be visible, then typically, at least in Windows, you can right-click in the play-back area and display the menu choices.
console - This links various components of the controller, if they are placed separately on the page. In otherwords, if you have multiple players on one Web page, this attribute links them together. The "one" provides controls for playback. But for this illustation, only one window is shown.
autostart - If set to 'true', this will allow the playback to begin immediately. If you set this to 'false' or do not include it at all, then it will not play until the end user starts the clip.
For additional CONTROL features, see Adding RealPlayer Controls.
<OBJECT> Tag Parameters
The <object> tag uses the same parameters as the <embed> tag but without the NOJAVA parameter. Also, (with the exception of id, classid, width, and height) you must specify each parameter individually with a <param> tag that falls between the <object> and </object> tags. Be sure to always enclose parameter values in double quotation marks.
If you would like to try another format, just choose one:
